Cornfield. Cornfield. Cornfield. There’s nothing for miles as Isaac drives us further and further. I check my phone for the time, and a signal. Nothing. Not a single bar, that’s how far in the middle of nowhere we are. And from the clock on my phone, we’ve been travelling for three hours. “Where did you say this cemetery was again?” I ask. “I didn’t say,” Isaac responds, and then we come upon a small, tattered green road sign. Welcome to Noir. Noir? I know I’ve heard that name before in my repertoire of ghost stories, but I can’t quite put my finger on it… “Wait, Noir? As in THE Noir?” I voice, realization dawning. Noir, Ohio has an incredibly murky, and haunting past. A town built on family and faith eventually succumbing to secrets and monsters. Tons of people from the Midwest know about Noir or have at least heard of it, especially if you’re into the paranormal or true crime. James Nostren, friend to all those who lived in Noir, or so those who had been interviewed had said, helped rebuild Noir from the ground up. What was once desolate farmlands had become the land of opportunity for so many businesses, and it was all thanks to the amusement park that James founded. Many had said he wanted his amusement park to be a place that families could come and enjoy as a getaway, but then he dipped his toes in the rest of Noir, and families decided to stay. The mayor himself was so grateful toward James that he had even given him the key to the city in a huge ceremony. James became the face of Noir with his iconic character Bongo the Clown, the main attraction of Noir Amusement. And then Bongo became the face of evil.
